Mipec Tower is a mixed-use complex at 229 Tay Son Street in Dong Da, Hanoi, now part of O Cho Dua Ward. It was the first major property project of MIPEC (Military Petrochemical JSC), which bought the site in 2008 and built an office tower and two residential towers above a shopping podium.

Around 300 high-end apartments went on sale in 2008 through Savills, with the complex completed around 2010. The podium mall, once called Picomall, was renamed Mipec Tower in 2012. The office tower houses MIPEC, insurer MIC and PGBank among others.

Location

Tay Son Street links Nga Tu So with O Cho Dua and Thai Ha, one of the busiest corridors in west-central Hanoi. Hoan Kiem Lake is about 15–20 minutes by car, and the Cat Linh–Ha Dong elevated metro is close by. Daily shopping is in the building itself.

Living and renting here

Apartments are spacious by Hanoi standards and many have been renovated. Two-bedroom units of 80–90 m² and three-bedroom units around 90–110 m² are the most common. The trade-off is traffic and noise on Tay Son; units on higher floors facing away from the street are quieter.

Buying checks

  • Check that the unit is in a residential tower (not an office floor) and has a pink book.
  • Ask about lift upgrades and fire-safety work in a building from around 2010.
  • Compare parking costs, which are higher in a mixed-use building with mall traffic.
