Location: the most practical address in Thao Dien

Thao Dien is the city’s best-known expat neighbourhood, with international schools, cafés, restaurants and boutiques. Masteri Thao Dien sits on its northern edge on Hanoi Highway, which makes it easy to get in and out by car and, since the end of 2024, by metro. From Thao Dien station, the ride to Ben Thanh in District 1 takes around 15 minutes, no matter how bad the traffic on Saigon Bridge is.

That metro link is the single biggest change to the project’s appeal in recent years. Residents who once spent 30–45 minutes in rush-hour traffic now walk a few minutes to the station and ride to work. It has also made the project attractive to tenants working in the east of the city along the metro line.

Towers and layout

The five towers stand on a shared podium with landscaped gardens, pools and sports facilities. T1 and T2 face the river side and Saigon Bridge; T3, T4 and T5 sit nearer the mall and the metro. Each tower has its own lobby and lifts, but residents share the podium amenities, so the community feels connected without being crowded.

Amenities

  • Direct, covered access to Vincom Mega Mall Thao Dien – supermarket, cinema, food court, fitness and shops
  • Next to Thao Dien metro station
  • Several swimming pools on the podium, including a children’s pool
  • Gym, BBQ areas, children’s playground and gardens
  • 24/7 security, card access and on-site management

Being able to buy groceries, see a film or go to the gym without crossing a road is a big part of why people stay here for years.

Apartment types and sizes

  • Studio and 1-bedroom: about 40–55 m², popular with single professionals
  • 2-bedroom: about 65–75 m², the most common and most liquid layout
  • 3-bedroom: about 90–100 m², for families
  • 4-bedroom, duplex and penthouse: limited units on upper floors

Layouts are compact and efficient, typical of the mid-to-high segment. River-facing units in T1 and T2 tend to command higher prices and rents; units near the mall and metro are prized for convenience.

Buying an apartment at Masteri Thao Dien

All sales today are on the secondary market. The project’s strength is liquidity: there is always demand from both owner-occupiers and investors, so well-priced units sell. Prices depend on tower, view, floor and furniture. Check whether the unit already has its ownership certificate, the remaining management fee balance and whether a parking slot is included. Foreign buyers should confirm the remaining foreign ownership quota in the tower.

Renting at Masteri Thao Dien

The rental market is one of the busiest in the east of the city. Tenants include expats working in Thao Dien and District 1, young Vietnamese professionals and families who like the mall and metro on the doorstep. Most units are rented fully furnished on 6- or 12-month leases with a one- or two-month deposit. Studios and 2-bedroom units move fastest.

Pros and cons

  • Pros: metro station next door, direct mall access, strong rental demand, close to Thao Dien’s schools and restaurants.
  • Cons: Hanoi Highway can be noisy for lower floors on that side, compact layouts, busy common areas at weekends.

If you want more space or a quieter setting nearby, compare it with New City Thu Thiem or riverside Saigon Pearl. For a lower budget with a larger township around you, Vinhomes Grand Park is further along the same metro line.

Living in Thao Dien

Thao Dien has a village feel that surprises first-time visitors. Behind the main roads are small lanes with garden villas, independent coffee shops, bakeries, yoga studios and restaurants serving everything from Vietnamese street food to French bistro dishes. Weekend markets and riverside bars give it a relaxed rhythm that is very different from the rush of District 1.

Living at Masteri gives you that neighbourhood within a 5–10 minute ride, while keeping the practical advantages of a modern tower: security, a lift, a pool and a supermarket downstairs. For many residents it is the perfect balance – the lifestyle of Thao Dien without the maintenance of a villa.

Schools nearby

Families can choose from a cluster of international schools in Thao Dien and An Phu, offering British, American, Australian, French and IB programmes, as well as bilingual Vietnamese schools. Many run buses that pick up at Masteri, which is a big help with daily logistics.

What the metro changed

Before Metro Line No. 1 opened, the biggest drawback of Masteri Thao Dien was traffic on Hanoi Highway and Saigon Bridge at peak hours. Today, residents can walk to the station and reach Ben Thanh in about 15 minutes, or head east to the hi-tech park and university area. The metro has widened the pool of potential tenants and made the location more resilient to traffic problems – both positives for owners.

Viewing checklist

  • Visit at rush hour to judge noise from Hanoi Highway on your side of the tower.
  • Check whether the unit faces the river, the pool or the highway.
  • Ask for the furniture list and appliance ages for rentals.
  • Confirm the parking arrangement and management fee.
